Your name: If anyone is interested, we'd like to hear from you! One last interesting fact would be, we ain't got a record deal and we'd love to be signed by someone. We got to the semifinal of the Emergenza 2005 band competition. On Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 August 2006, we'll be playing two shows in Massachusetts, USA. We'd like to play anywhere that would have us, but if we had a choice of famous venues, we'd like to play in the following places:įinally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself We think the kids got overly excited, due to the fact the venue was closing down! You could say that the gig closed the venue good and proper! They were falling all over the stage, and generally going mad! We were the last band to ever play in there because the venue was closing down. Our most memorable gig(s) so far would have to be when we recently played in the Silhouettes bar in our home town. But when you put these influences together, you get what Syphon is all about!Įxamples of influences are (in no particular order) Machine Head, Sepultura, Silverchair, Muse, Pantera, Norma Jean, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Will Haven. There are many, many different musical influences within Syphon.Įach band member has a slightly different outlook on what we like and dislike. We wanted a name that was short, sharp and wasn't a tongue twister for people to say! We went through a load of different names in the beginning, and the name Syphon isn't relevant to anyone or anything! We have our own twisted edge, and we feel that you get to see that if you catch us playing live! We feel that there's too many labels on music today. Most people class us as a hardcore/screamo band! The lineup you see of Syphon today has been together since mid 2005. We've had many setbacks, but have managed to come through all of them. Justin, our bass player, joined in mid 2005. Most of 2002, and pretty much half of 2003, were spent with an on and off singer, and without a full-time bass player!Ĭarl joined Syphon in late 2004. We went without a singer and a bass player for well over a year - our original singer let us down a lot, and we needed someone to be more committed to the band! We naturally took the advantage and asked him to join Syphon. We practised on our own for a while, until we were ready to look for other band members.Ĭarl came to be our vocalist, due to his old band splitting up. After a long wait, Chris made the decision to leave his band at the time and form a new one with Keith. One day, Keith decided to approach Chris to ask him if he'd like to form a different metal band. Chris was always drumming for local bands, and Keith would go and watch him perform. Keith and Chris knew each other from our school days. And if you don't, that's cool too!Ĭarl Florey on vocals, Keith Davies on guitars, Justin Mirto on bass, and Chris Baker on drums. Syphon Bridgwater's Syphon are classed as a hardcore/screamo band.
